Same Old, Same Old…

October 21, 2010

We spend so much time in our lives doing the same things we’ve done a million times before.

I spent the last seven days at work hearing/voicing complaints about the same problems we’ve had for years.

I just went to a neighborhood board meeting where we talked about the same issues we always talk about.

I’m still reading the same few books I’ve had by my bed for months, because I haven’t been attentive/awake/not watching TV enough to finish them.

I worry about the same issues concerning my kids, my marriage, my job, my family. Yes, every once in a while there is a curve ball thrown into my worries (like there was last month), but it’s essentially the same.

I have the same old post staring me in the face everytime I open this blog. And I have the same reasons for not writing more (too tired, uninspired, self conscious…).

I have the same plans (organize the house, find a new line of work, plan meals ahead of time, exercise, take my medicine, call my great aunts, save money…) and for the same undefinable reasons I never make any progress.

I guess something different would be outside my comfort zone, and I’m not ready to venture there. So I guess it will all just stay the same. Sigh.

*Note: I know my mom will read this and call me to see “what’s wrong.” Nothing is wrong. I’m fine, just feeling stuck, nothing new. It’s all the same. And I really wanted that pig off the top of my blog.

It’s reassuring for me to see that you’re feeling/thinking the same things that I am afraid to admit to feeling/thinking all the time. What I mean is, if someone I look up to as an awesome Mom/wife/daughter/neice/cousin/person is going through the same things as me…maybe I’m doing a little better than I’m giving myself credit for. So thanks.

*Side note to both of our Moms: I’m fine too. Don’t worry!

No, I won’t call about this specifically. I’ll just say–wait until you’re my age, and you’ve had 27 more years of worrying/thinking about/doing the same old stuff! Hahahahahaha. Then of course you add in worrying about your grown children and your grandchildren, your (now getting older, too) siblings, your retirement (as if!), your very old and feeble parents/aunts/uncles. But–every once in a while there’s a shakeup, in a good way. Or at least in an interesting way.
Are you sure everything’s okay? Talk to you soon.
