Silly Bandz!!!!!!!!!

August 28, 2010

The Bug and The Bean, like most other kids in the universe, LOVE silly band bracelets! The Bug especially, talks to her friends about them constantly, trades them and carries them everywhere. The Bean just wants to be like her big sister. I think she was the first one in her “Toddler” class to wear them, so she started her own trend then.

Last week, after a trip to Northern VA to see our family, the girls received a package in the mail. My aunt sent them both a fresh supply of silly bands, and they proceeded to put on each one they own. As you can see, they even have Silly Bandz rings now!

I’ve warned The Bug that she’s not going to be able to take her box of bands to school, and that while they still allow students to wear silly bands, they cannot trade at school. Something tells me that they might be outlawed completely before too long, like they are at so many schools already.

Anyway, they keep my girls occupied for hours and they’re teaching them about marketing, trade and capitalism. The Bug and her “best friend at camp” had a shop, where they offered campers 2 pieces of “gimp” (plastic string to make bracelets) for one silly band. Sounds like a deal to me, and she came home with 3 inches worth of new bracelets today!

All I have to say is, I can’t believe I didn’t invent these damn things!

You’re not kidding about wishing you invented these things. Where was that in our grand list of job ideas of what I could do while home with infant twins? 🙂
