Let Me Tell You What the Problem Is…

June 10, 2010

This is the problem. It’s not how many times the President pounds on his podium, flies to the Gulf coast, or how scripted it sounds when he talks about kicking someone’s ass.

The problem is that BP is lying. I was recently told by someone in the oil industry, that BP could have stopped this leak immediately. But their initial concern was capturing the oil, not stopping it. Now, when they bring in the “experts,” they don’t tell anyone the entire problem. Experts in one area sit in one room, and are told about one aspect of the problem. Those in another room are told about another issue. Noone fully understands the entire scope of the problem.

That is the problem.

How could they have stopped it? Wouldn’t stopping it have led to being able to capture more of it? I’m sure they’re lying, it’s a kind of sleight of hand.

My dad was just saying the same thing. The truth is that BP could have capped/plugged/whatever they call it from the very beginning. But instead, they are drilling down a new hold to be able to capture the oil AND THEN plugging the leak. Why can’t they plug the leak now and then drill to a new spot? Because it’s all about money. It makes me sick to me stomach when I think about all of the wildlife, people’s lives, and coastline ruined all in the name of DRILL BABY DRILL.
